Blog #12 - Current View of Technology in the classroom

Technology is a necessary tool for each and every single classroom. Teachers need to use some sort of technology to help children learn the curriculum in the general educaion classroom. Students will need technology to take notes, play games, review for tests, and assistive technology. Every type of student can benefit from technology as long as the teacher uses it effectivly. The students will enjoy having a projector in the classroom or using a computer on a daily basis. I think technology needs to be used in the classroom whether it is the simplest technology as a VCR.

Blog #11 - Non-Computer Based Technology

The technology that is available is not always related to the computer. There is certain products that all people can use such as a Teletypwriter, text telephone, calculators, speech recognition software, and so much more. All they products are used for all different kinds of disabilities. They can be used in the classroom to help communication and can also help in basic skills such as math and language arts.
Although technology that is not primarily used for the computer is available to the public, there is not a lot of selection. There was not alot of selection on the internet and it took some research to find a few products. Teachers and parents need to look at these products and put them into use in the environments of the children. Most children do not have the best computer skills and having theye non-computer based technology will be beneficial.

Blog #10 - ERIC Research Project

The ERIC Research projects have been interesting and informing about technology that is available. I find it worthwhile to know all the tehnology that can be used in the classroom, not only to benefit you as the teacher, but also to improve the students education. I plan to use everything (if it is available) in my classroom and I wish every school district would have all of this technological equipment. Although some of it can be found online, not everything will be and that can be inconvient. That is really my only concern is that I will not be able to use this technology because the school district does not have it. Other than that concern, I am looking forward to the future and can't wait to graduate so I can become a teacher.

Blog Post #9

I found this excellent website that can be used by the teacher and the students. This website gives resources about how to use the computer for teachers who have not had the required training. This websites gives many example websites (with links) for many different subjects for elementary, middle, and high school students. It has many different resources and it also has websites the children can use in their free time that are educational. The website is:

Blog #6 & #7: Internet Use in Elemenary Classroom

BLOG #6
Internet is an important part in the classroom today. The Pro's and Con's of using this technology in the classroom is:
Pro: Can find worksheets, lesson plans, free software, free educational games online.
Con: Some teachers will only use it as a research tool.

If a school administrator would ask me why I would use the internet, I would respond that Internet is an educational tool that should be used. This is a resource that provides not only research tools for the children, but also tools for the teacher. The internet is an amazing resource and will be used in my classroom.

I was recently told of this website called Education Place. It has free resources for activities, graphic organizers, websites, bilingual resources, textbook support, assessmnet system, and many other things. All these things on the website are free and they include so much information that I can use the website now as a student.

I don't want to have a classroom without technology use in it. My mentor did not use hardly any technology in her classroom and I saw so many changes I could make. Technology is a helpful tool and should be used, but the teacher must have the training to be able to use it in the classroom.

Blog #5 - Response to Article

The article is titled "All kindergartners need to know" from the Chicago Sun Times. I have a mix of feelings towards this article. The organization of the curriculum is good because it defines what needs to be taught by a certain age. It does not allow the teacher any freedom to choose what he or she can do in the classroom. I don't have a positive or negative feeling towards the ideas discussed in this article. As a future teacher, I do like to have my own ideas present in the classroom, but the way they have the classroom set up it gives me no area to present my ideas. I guess I do have a negative feeling after all, but I do not disagree with the structure. I like to do things with some of my own ideas integrated into the curriculum.
