The technology that is available is not always related to the computer. There is certain products that all people can use such as a Teletypwriter, text telephone, calculators, speech recognition software, and so much more. All they products are used for all different kinds of disabilities. They can be used in the classroom to help communication and can also help in basic skills such as math and language arts.
Although technology that is not primarily used for the computer is available to the public, there is not a lot of selection. There was not alot of selection on the internet and it took some research to find a few products. Teachers and parents need to look at these products and put them into use in the environments of the children. Most children do not have the best computer skills and having theye non-computer based technology will be beneficial.

Lauren, the technologies that you chose that are not computer based are very beneficial to everyone, which I think is the best technology to select. Also, I found it hard to find non-computer based technology equipment as well. It seems as if there really is a minimal amount offered. Overall, I thought that the most interesting technology was the page turner. What did you think?
I think the three technologies that you mentioned are really good technologies. Calculators are great but I believe that some people abuse them. I know this because I have to use them for everything and forget how to do the most basic math. But I do think that they are great for children to learn how to use.
I can agree that are many products out there that do not relate to the computer. Calculators are a very easy tool for all classrooms to have, but at the young age we are teaching I hope they do not learn to rely on them. It is important for them to learn how to use them, but they really should be doing the more simplistic math on their own. But I definitely value that product of technology.
You bring up some great technologies for utilization in the classroom with students with disabilities. Having these non-computer based technologies available for students to use is another way to help them learn. One thing you mentioned,Teletypwriter seems quite interesting to learn about. Additionally, something like a calculator seems basic, but we use them SO MUCH and they are nearly required in every person's lifestyle. Finally, the page turner seems really cool, too. I cannot wait to utilize these resources one day in my classroom as a future teacher.
